My name is Kanza Zahra, and I proudly balance two roles - as a full-time mom to my five year old son and as an Accountant in Tampnet's finance team. At Tampnet, I support daily financial operations, accounting, and reporting, while collaborating with teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficient processes across the business.
What is your professional background, and how did your career path lead you to Tampnet?
I have a background in accounting and finance and have built my career supporting accurate financial operations and collaboration across teams. This journey led me to Tampnet, where I value the opportunity to work in an international environment and continue developing professionally.
How was your experience when you first joined the company?
My experience when I first joined the company was positive and welcoming. I felt supported by my team and appreciated the collaborative environment, which helped me understand the role and business quickly. The openness and willingness of colleagues to share knowledge made transition smooth and helped me feel part of the organisation from the start.
What is your current role, and what are your main responsibilities, and what does a typical day at work look like for you?
I am an Accountant in Tampnet's finance team. My main responsibilities include managing accounting activities for several countries, including Brazil, Canada, and Trinidad and Tobago. My day typically involves managing payables and receivables across multiple countries, working on reconciliations, and collaborate with teams to ensure accurate and timely financial operations.
What inspired you to pursue the career path you're on today?
I was inspired to pursue this career by my interest in problem-solving and meaningful work, and I'm motivated by opportunities to grow, take ownership, and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive environment.
Has there been a particular person who inspired you in your work?
I'm inspired by our team's supervisor, who has been an incredible mentor to me. I admire her leadership, dedication, and the way she supports others, and the motivates me to work toward my future goals.
How would you describe your team and the way you work together?
My team is very supportive and collaborative, and we genuinely rely on one another. We communicate openly, help each other through challenges, and aren't afraid to step in when someone needs support. There's a strong sense of trust and teamwork, which makes demanding work feel manageable and rewarding. My colleagues are always willing to help, and that makes a big difference in how we work together.
What is one project, task, or achievement you're particularly proud of during your time at Tampnet?
The integration of Brazil in Business Central is one of my proudest achievements. Being involved in building an understanding of the business processes from the ground up was both challenging and very rewarding.
One of my most memorable moments was when my Finance team applauded me for the Brazil integration in Business Central. It was my first moment of recognition like that, and it made me feel truly appreciated. It's a proud moment that I will always remember.
What are your future career goals or aspirations?
I aim to continue growing my career, take on more responsibility, and expand my expertise while contributing to a higher level within the finance function.
I believe there is always room to learn and grow, and I'm very interested in continuing to develop my knowledge. I would like to learn more about the services Tampnet provides and gain a deeper understanding of how the business operates beyond finance, so I can contribute even more effectively.
Is there a trend, development, or change in our industry that you find particularly interesting or exciting right now?
I'm excited by how digitalisation and connectivity are transforming our industry, especially in enabling remote operations and supporting the energy transition - areas where Tampnet plays a key role.
