Our unique network routes passes through eight selected countries, connecting 40+ vital data centres in 12 European and American cities. This high-speed network between Norway and Europe is what makes us unique. We access Europe through two different routes to Great Britain, as well as routes via Sweden and Denmark. Thus, we can always choose the fastest route for our customers.
Tampnet Carrier originated from the offshore network that Tampnet has developed over the years. The very stringent availability, quality and security requirements of communication offshore have been incorporated into the Carrier business.
Norway has become a major player in the global data center industry - putting pressure on terrestrial backhaul networks, where data-intensive businesses urgently need new, diverse routes to connect to, from or within Norway.
We've built a solution for businesses that need to bypass congestion and scale to meet future demands. Norfest is a new, resilient near-shore subsea route connecting 11+ locations - from Stavanger to Oslo - with full diversity.
We deliver high-performance Long-Haul Wavelength services with a European reach, combining an advanced DWDM platform with extensive metropolitan reach and Tampnet’s unique routes.
Our dedicated Long-Haul Wavelength network connects over 30 data centres in 12 cities with rapid turn-up times and industry-leading SLAs. High capacity intercity bandwidth – N times 1Gbps, 10 Gbps, 100Gbps or 400Gbps. Ethernet, infiniband or OTN. We manage low latency transport of multiple protocols.
We own and operate fibre infrastructure connecting the Nordics, UK and Europe.
Proven in a range of industries, including data centres, finance, media, corporate and the public sector, Dark Fibre is a highly scalable option for high-capacity users, enabling quick access to additional capacity as needed.
All Tampnet fibre routes are based on passive fibre and suitable for all transmission technologies. Optical spectrum enables access to a portion of the capacity of an optical fibre. The optical spectrum enables unparalleled scalability with the ability to grow capacity from a few wavelengths without the commitment to a full fibre.

DAS is a fibre-sensing technology that uses principles similar to OTDR. In DAS, light pulses are sent down the optical fibre, and the backscattered light is analysed. DAS detects changes in the phase of the reflected light caused by variations in the fibre strain. These strain changes can result from acoustic vibrations or physical interactions with the fibre cable, making DAS highly sensitive to a wide range of activities and environmental phenomena.
SoP sensing is another fibre-sensing technology that leverages the polarization properties of light travelling through optical fibre. Unlike DAS, SoP sensing can be fully integrated into existing optical transmission systems, but comes with lower sensitivity and less spatial information. It can operate using dark fibre, a separate wavelength, or even by utilising data from a coherent receiver in an active optical transmission system. This integration makes SoP a cost-efficient alternative to DAS, with lower equipment and deployment cost.
Fibre-sensing technologies represent a transformative advancement for the proactive monitoring and management of submarine fibre cables. By leveraging existing infrastructure, these techniques enable real-time detection of both physical threats and environmental phenomena. This integration of fibre-sensing data with diverse sources - such as weather information, geophysical data, and network telemetry - within the Network Operations Centre (NOC) greatly enhances situational awareness and operational decision-making. The approach allows operators to address risks preemptively, from preventing anchor drags that may harm cables to coordinating cable inspections or rerouting traffic in response to potential failures.
Moreover, the ability to extract environmental data provides additional value for external applications, including seismic monitoring, oceanographic research and resource exploration. Read more about SoP and DAS here, and find all of our research here.

Tampnet Carrier originated from the offshore network that Tampnet has developed over the years. The very stringent availability requirements, security requirements and quality of communication offshore have been incorporated into the International Carrier business. Tampnet is currently connecting the offshore fibre network to shore through several direct routes to Europe and the rest of the world. The demanding offshore security requirements means that Tampnet Carrier can maintain a higher quality on our infrastructure compared to what is offered by our competitors. This has resulted in more available routes in and out of Norway and a robust network that our customers enjoy exclusively.
The high-speed network between Norway and Europe is what makes Tampnet Carrier unique. We access Europe through two different routes to Great Britain, as well as routes via Sweden and Denmark. Thus, we can always choose the fastest route for our customers, to ensure that users receive a unique and diverse route in and out of Norway. We therefore deliver diversity by offering two to three routes to the primary locations in Europe with corresponding low latency. Digital content is transmitted more quickly, critical data is better, and our routes have the lowest delay in the entire communications sector in our region.
Tampnet Carrier offers DWDM and Ethernet with a capacity from as low as 2 MB/s to Nx100 GB/s between our PoPs (Point of Presence) Oslo, Stockholm, Stavanger, Aberdeen, London, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Bergen and Trondheim. The Round-Trip Delay between Oslo and London is at a mere 14.6 milliseconds. This means that the data centre industry, media, telecommunications and finance industry specifically select Tampnet and can benefit from our infrastructure as a new gateway between Scandinavia, London, Frankfurt and the rest of the world. Our goal is to create value for our customers by connecting the offshore network to a robust and reliable land-based network, offering high-capacity and low delay/latency.
Quality at every level penetrates the entire Tampnet organisation. The high level of technical knowledge and expertise we have acquired from the oil and gas sector therefore gives Tampnet Carrier a distinct edge towards other industries.
Tampnet offers international carriers services on open and non-discriminatory terms in the business to business market including ISPs, data centres, finance, media, corporate and the public sector.
Tampnet Carrier and its parent company owns and operates submarine fibre optic cables between Norway, Denmark and Great Britain and is therefore the shortest and fastest route between Norway, Scandinavia, Europe and selected cities in the US. Tampnet Carrier is focused on fiber densification and the build-out of new unique, high performing routes in an area densely populated by vital Data Centers.
